Respite care is short-term residential care, usually ranging from a few days to a few weeks. It gives family carers a proper break whilst the person being cared for stays with us, receiving all the support they need in a homely environment.
It's not just about emergencies. Many families use respite care regularly, perhaps a week every couple of months, or a fortnight whilst they go on holiday. It helps everyone recharge.

You need a holiday — Caring is a full-time job. You deserve time away to relax without worrying.
You're recovering from illness — If you're unwell yourself, respite care means your loved one is looked after whilst you recuperate.
You need to attend a family event — Weddings, milestone birthdays, trips abroad. Sometimes life happens and you need reliable cover.
You're feeling exhausted — Even a few days' break can make an enormous difference to your wellbeing and ability to continue caring.
You want to see if residential care might suit — Respite stays can help your loved one (and you) see what longer-term care might look like, without any commitment.
Hospital discharge support — If your loved one is being discharged but you need time to prepare, or they need extra support before returning home, respite care bridges the gap.
Everything you'd expect from residential care, just for a shorter period:
24-hour support — Experienced staff on hand day and night.
Personal care — Help with washing, dressing, mobility, and medication.
All meals — Freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day.
Activities and companionship — We encourage respite guests to join in activities, make friends, and feel part of the community.
A comfortable room — Clean, welcoming, and safe. Bring personal items to make it feel more familiar.
Laundry service — All taken care of, so you don't need to worry about packing endless changes of clothes.

We know coming somewhere new can feel unsettling, especially if your loved one has dementia or anxiety. Our teams are experienced in helping people settle quickly.
Before the stay, we'll talk through their routines, preferences, and any concerns. What time do they usually wake? How do they like their tea? Are there foods they don't enjoy? The more we know, the more comfortable they'll feel.
During their stay, we keep you updated. You're welcome to call anytime, and we'll let you know how they're getting on. Many families visit during respite stays too, you're always welcome.
Plan ahead when possible — We recommend booking a few weeks in advance, especially for longer stays or during busy periods like school holidays.
Emergency respite — We'll always do our best to accommodate urgent requests. Call us and we'll see what we can arrange.
Regular respite — If you'd like to book recurring stays (e.g. two weeks every quarter), we can schedule these in advance so you have certainty.

We charge a daily rate for respite care, which covers accommodation, meals, personal care, and activities. Costs vary depending on care needs and which home you choose.
Some people can access funding through their local authority or NHS Continuing Healthcare. We're happy to discuss this and help you understand your options.
When you call, we'll give you a clear breakdown of costs with no hidden fees, no surprises.

We'll provide a full list when you book, but typically you'll need:
You don't need to bring bedding or towels, we’ll provide everything for the room.
You're not letting anyone down by arranging respite care. You're making sure your loved one is safe and well cared for, whilst giving yourself the rest you need to keep going.
