Not every family needs a care home straight away. Plenty need somewhere to start, a day centre that gets a parent out of the house twice a week, a carer's group where someone finally admits they're exhausted, a memory café that makes a dementia diagnosis feel less isolating.
If you don't know which service fits, Connect to Support Lincolnshire is the county's own directory for adult care and community wellbeing, covering everything from carers' support to getting out and about. Their team is reachable by phone and live web chat on 0300 303 8789, Monday to Friday, 2pm to 7pm.
For a broader first port of call, the Age UK Advice Line runs free, 8am to 7pm, 365 days a year, on 0800 678 1602, and can point you towards local services as well as answer questions on benefits, housing, and care funding.
"Families often come to us for a care home conversation when what they actually need first is a day centre place or a carer's group. Part of our admissions role is knowing what's genuinely still running locally, since some of what's listed online has closed or changed." — Admissions Lead, Kimberley Care Village
Age UK Lincolnshire (recently renamed from Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire) covers Spalding as part of its wider county service. Their Help In Your Home offer, gardening, decorating, housework, deep cleaning, and home maintenance, is specifically available in Spalding along with Holbeach, Long Sutton, Sleaford, Boston, and Gainsborough. They also run a Removals service for anyone downsizing or moving into supported living. Call 0345 556 4144, or their general enquiries line on 01522 696 000, to ask what's currently running.
The Meadows Day Centre, based at 1 The Meadows in Spalding, is a long-standing independent local charity (it split from Age UK in 2018 specifically to stay locally run for Spalding and South Holland residents rather than become part of a county-wide organisation). It's open Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, offering social activities, meals, and health and beauty services, alongside a dedicated dementia day care service run in a separate conservatory space. Transport is available. Contact them directly on 01775 720305 or via themeadowsspalding.co.uk for current session availability and costs, since these are set by the centre and reviewed periodically.
Movement 4 Memory, run by Tonic Health, holds a weekly drop-in memory café at their Spalding site every Wednesday from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, alongside a Tuesday group at their Surfleet site and a new group planned for Holbeach. Sessions combine mental and physical stimulation for the person living with dementia while giving carers a genuine break. Details are on the Tonic Health dementia support page.
Worth knowing if you've been told about it previously: Lincolnshire's NHS-run Memory Support Service closed on 1 July 2026 following a council review, so if you've seen it referenced anywhere online, that specific route is no longer available. Anyone looking for current dementia groups and one-to-one support should go through Connect to Support Lincolnshire's dementia support page or the Alzheimer's Society's Lincolnshire dementia support service on 01522 692681, both of which stay current as local groups start and stop.
Carers First runs a Spalding Wellbeing Group, a drop-in support group for unpaid carers with no need to book. Expect a genuinely warm welcome, regular guest speakers on topics carers actually ask about, and the odd craft session or quiz alongside tea and coffee. Details are on the Carers First Spalding Wellbeing Group page.
Carers First also runs Working Wednesdays, an online evening peer support group for carers juggling paid work with caring, and workshops covering benefits, grants, and legal matters like Lasting Power of Attorney, listed on their how we help unpaid carers page.
If you'd rather speak to someone directly about your caring role before joining a group, Lincolnshire County Council's Carer Wellbeing Hub takes calls on 01522 782224.
Day centres, memory cafés, and carer support groups can hold things together for a long time, sometimes for years. But there's often a point where a carer's own health, or the level of support someone needs, moves beyond what home-based support can safely manage.
If that conversation is starting to feel close, Kimberley Care Village in Spalding offers residential, dementia, respite, and palliative care, and our admissions team is happy to talk through options long before any decision needs to be made.
Local services change. Groups start, funding ends, session times shift. Every service listed here was checked directly against the provider's own site or registration, but if you're relying on this for a specific visit, it's worth a quick call first to confirm times haven't moved.
