Resident needs and choices
Where possible we involve parents, next of kin as well as the resident and GP's in creating a care plan, behaviour guidelines, social interactions and health action plans all linked in before implementation. The care plan summary shows the strengths, needs and the intervention required by staff and how this would be achieved.
Each resident has their own bedroom with communal access to the kitchen, living room, smoking room and gardens.
Residents liaise with the staff to discuss their likes, interests and goals. These could include finding a job, wanting to cook or paint or just having the confidence to go to the shops.
Support is given to help residents achieve their goals. This could involve education on social rules and understanding other peoples behaviour. Support also includes practical skills such as independent living, food preparation, budgeting, shopping and self care. We can help access college courses and support residents in finding a meaningful job.

Lifestyle
We support residents to use local community amenities to develop their social awareness within the community. These include the leisure centre, shops, library, college, volunteer groups and places of worship.
People in the home have opportunities for personal development, appropriate activities, family involvement and a healthy diet; resulting in a fulfilling lifestyle.
Employment and Education
Residents are helped to develop social, vocational, educational and leisure skills in the community and within the home. We hold regular fun activities and games as well as educational activities, The service at Glen House is in its infancy and we are very lucky to have interaction with Tudor Lodge residents and take part in thier activities and parties.
We encourage residents to develop their interests and hobbies, currently these include, computers, Painting, crafts and games.
Residents may require support for personal care. This may include assistance or prompting from staff for getting washed, dressed, eating etc.
All residents have a personal development plan which staff will work through. The plan notes the resident’s current personal care abilities and then gives goals for the resident and staff to work towards with the aim of developing the skills, so that they can be as independent as possible with their personal care.
Environment
The homes are large with plenty of space for the residents to spread out and enjoy time by themselves or with others.
Residents are encouraged to make suggestions to the home manager to recommend any changes they would like to the home; this could include themed meals, repainting a room, party night theme's or buying new DVDs.
Staffing
Residents are supported by a committed staff team. Home's has a Registered Home Manager and Support Workers. Home Managers and care staff are supported by our Training and assessement Centre to ensure that all staff are equipped to fulfil their role within the home.
