Activites
Activities play an important role in our lives within each of our Homes, where the Managers are constantly trying to bring some variety and enthusiasm into the residents’ routine. Activities are not treated as a “treat” or an “extra” they are a vital component of our whole caring package.
Hear what our residents say:

“Every week there is something different to do”
“I’m making things I never thought I could”
“The staff get us doing all these new games and its great fun”
Elderly Activities
Physical activity

This session is of particular importance as the need for residents to be kept mobile and active is vital for their own benefit and future well being. The person who spends long periods sitting and unoccupied develops weak muscles and bones, an inefficient heart and lings. Physical deterioration can often lead to decreased mental ability and depression, something we all wish to avoid. Most importantly we have fun!
This takes the form of our GMKM (Get Moving Keep Moving) groups and activities range from our now famous Summer and Winter Olympics, to “ice hockey” and “curling”. Yes we achieve it all!
Group Activities for the elderly
The residents achieve real satisfaction out of working in two teams the competitive element to our lives clearly living on even should we find ourselves in Residential Care. Or these sessions may involve a sharing of memories and pastimes.
As a group we have regular outings, trips to the theatre, cream teas and the best themed parties going!
Reminiscence
Recollecting the past we find residents (including those with memory loss) can achieve more consistent and positive views of their past, accept personal losses and preserve a sense of purpose & satisfaction.
Hence our IRIR (I Remember I Remember) and Who's who sessions.

Younger Adults
Sessions are divided into different types of activity including cookery (see pics of Pancake day), arts an crafts (see Easter Bonnet Making) many themed nights throughout the year and outside events (day trips & camping).
This year for the first time the residents and staff joined forces to put on the pantomime “Snow White and the seven Dwarfs”. This was a fantastic joint effort and the performance was warmly received by the huge audience of relatives, staff and healthcare professionals
Our latest activity involves a weekly swimming session at the local sports centre where the residents are teaching their manager how to swim without armbands!
Our Managers, supporting staff, relatives and friends have given, and continue to give, so freely of their time and energy to enhance the lives of people in our care and in doing so inspire other people so to do.
