Pearl Healthcare celebrates the success of its first Pink Valentines Tea Dance.

Residents, relatives and staff join together to dance the afternoon away, enjoy home made cream cakes and raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer at Sunnydale Residential Home.

The Music Lounge at Sunnydale was festooned with pink decorations and balloons to get everyone in the mood for this first Pink Valentines Tea Dance.

Residents and Staff all adorned in pink joined together to have a good time and raise money for their adopted charity

Shirley, the cook, excelled herself with a stunning array of home made cream cakes and a Pink Valentines Cake.

Julie the Manager said " I have never seen so many people dancing complete with walking sticks and zimmer frames.  It was a truly inspirational day"

£150 was raised for the Isle of Man branch of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and this makes a welcome start to the 2012 fund raising.

"Zimmer frame? No problem"

Shergy? Well he tried ice skating and failed!

"Well no one told me the ice was that thin!"

Shergy can now be contacted by e-mail on shergy@mail.com and he is eagerly awaiting to hear from his fans

Time to Catch up

Week 9 and 10:

I spent two weeks with Abigail while Julie was on holiday and we had tons of fun and even more walks

I did however learn some tricks that Julie doesn't quite appreciate yet but the time will come

"Auntie Julie I have taught Shergy how to jump up on the sofa all by himself"

Auntie Julie reply to this was "well you can just teach him to jump down by himself"

  • Clearly no idea as to  how difficult this new trick was to accomplish but we will convert her

"I have learnt how to sail a boat, and who do you think is the cutest? Answers on a post card please to ......"

"Here I am having learnt how to ride a horse, is there no end to my talents?"

"Just because I found the dummy out on a walk Abigail I don't really need to suck it, I do have my paw you know"

"I'm sure she did say get in the bin and not put it in the bin!  Still you can't win them all"

Weeks 11 and 12:

  • Those immortal words from Julie on our first day back at work:-

"Well Shergy are you ready for work?"

  • This prompted me to pull the duvet over my head and the second attempt:-

"Come on Shergy are you ready for work it's time we had left?"

  • This prompted me to go right down under the duvet and lie very still but do you know what she did?  She pulled the duvet right off the bed until I got up!
We have got photos that have captured all this but they are on the wrong computer so sorry folks you will have to wait until tomorrow for them
  • On Julie's return to the Isle of Man dogs are now allowed on the beach and so I had my first adventure on the sand and it was both scary and exciting all at the same time
  • I met a dog who has even more spots than me!  He was also about 10 times the size of me but where did he get so many spots?  I did check to make sure he hadn't stolen any of mine but a quick count and all was well.  Apparently he was a Dalmation dog but whatever he was he was great fun to chase around
  • I did get a few "Shergy No" shouted at me including "don't eat the seaweed, don't chase the seagulls and leave the shells behind"

"This is one I managed to hide and get off the beach without Julie knowing"

  • We also met what I thought was a donkey on the beach and when he chased me I was totally bowled over!  Julie said it wasn't a donkey but a Labradoodle!  My name sake Gary Sherwood has  a Labradoodle but I can't even show you a photo of her because she has just been clipped and looks really silly.  Her name is Betsey and when she is ready to meet her public once more I will let you see a photo.  I keep hoping for a play date but that hasn't happened yet either

  • Well we have had some very sad news at our house this week, Seita who I live with and who is also a Springer Spaniel had a stoke the day Julie and Ed came back from holiday but he is beginning to pick up again now.  Then the next day Trinny who also lived with us went into heart failure and she sadly died which was a shock for us all as she was only six.  I am glad I had some time with Trinny as she really was a rebel and she has taught me all I know!

"These were taken early on in our lives but on the left is Seita and on the right Trinny both trying to show me the ropes"

Please log back on tomorrow for the rest of the photos

Well I must go now as we are planning our fourth annual "Think Pink" day to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer on Thursday  and  they are expecting me to wear pink!!!!!!!!!!!!!
